Ore to Shore--O2S
On Friday afternoon Charlie G. & myself headed up north to the 2008 O2S epic. The reason that it is a epic is because its so far a-way & the trip up is a epic ride!! We made it to the registration in Marquette, MI with 10 mins. to spare. The O2S peeps said that registration was down 25% this year, propbably because of gas prices. The soft-rock goes off at 9am and the hard-rock at 9:45, which worked in Charlie & my favor because at about 8:59 it poured out. We put our bikes under a over hang & went into a bar that was right next to the start--I had coffee because I was shivering!
Last year it was a dust storm of a race this year all the sand was not loose at all. There were some puddles you had to go around but for the most part it was fast. The wet sand got into my drive system & caused some major chain suckage in my middle ring--But like I was told years ago by a very wise person who would fall a-sleep in front of a camp fire you should always use your Big Ring--so I did.
